The college runs under Shri Sanatan Dharm Sabha Society. It is an eminent society engaged in socio religious activities established in year 1960 under Registration of Society’s ACT 1860. However, Gita Bhawan, as a spiritual center, was established in the heart of the town in 1952. It is a refuge for the poor & needy and hundreds of people are provided food / langer daily. Together with spiritual pursuit, the Sabha has been engaged in quite a few activities related to welfare of humanity at large. The main trust is now shifted to education, particularly woman education.
Initially, G.V.M. Sr. Secondary School was established in the year 1972 which is today providing education to more than 2000 students. After that, in 1982, G.V.M. Girls College was established with aim of imparting high quality education and empowering woman. The college was established in the building of the school which was later shifted in an independent campus of 7 acres on Murthal Road, Sonipat.
In 2003, G.V.M. College was placed in GRADE A BY NAAC – National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India an autonomous body of UGC. In the year 2003, G.V.M. Girls College was the single institution in Haryana which was placed in GRADE-A. Since then the society is taking strides in the welfare of society & running following institutions;

The society endeavors on generation of employment for the youth on one hand and service of the poor / handicapped, social security for the aged and public health at large on the other hand.
